Australia’s industrial relations system has undergone substantial reform since 2007. The Modern Award system has been created and many awards across all industries, including road transport, have been rationalised. The then NSW Government supported these reforms which have led to the cessation of most awards in NSW, particularly those previously applying to the road transport industry.
Transitional arrangements apply to award conditions under the Road Transport and Distribution Award 2010 until June 2014 when it can be expected that award conditions for employees engaged under that award will be the same in all states and territories, including New South Wales.
